Chocolate CV

Ok it was my intention to write a series of posts about the People, Process and more importantly the Technology, behind one of my favourite topics; chocolate. Since the original idea crystallised I have been distracted by the necessity of re-writing my CV in readiness for attacking the dwindling job market. During the course of this exercise I have drank a lot of coffee and consumed more than my fair share of chocolate; what goes around, comes around it would seem.

Chocolate Technology

Mention the word ‘technology’ to most people and they assume that you are referring to ‘Information Technology’ i.e. computers, lap-tops, smart phones etc. In fact the term ‘technology’ has a much broader definition as this extract from Wikipedia demonstrates:

“The making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function. The term can either be applied generally or to specific areas; examples include construction technology, medical technology, and information technology”

Which brings me very nicely to one of my favourite things - chocolate.

In case you wondered

Whilst I readily admit to being a 'techie' one shouldn't assume that means I can create amazing looking blogs and web-sites. My bag is data and business analytics so please bear with me whilst I grab hold of this 'other' technology and wring the life out of it. Watch this space!

Fork handles or 4 candles?

For some reason I woke up this morning remembering a conversation I had some time ago with someone who thought they knew more about technology then they did. The conversation demonstrated the danger of not regularly checking someones understanding; just because they shake their head doesn't mean they have. The end result of this particular conversation was frustration all round i.e. no one got exactly what they wanted.

This brings me to the 2 Ronnies and the Fork Handles Sketch. It still makes me laugh and reminds me to probe more carefully before rushing to offer a solution. Whilst tracking down the sketch I also came across another Harry Enfield and Ronnie Corbett sketch regarding a familiar piece of technology, the Blackberry, if only it were that simple!

Are you paying too much for your mobile contract?

I am a regular listener to Radio 4's 'You and Yours'. Recently they discussed a matter close to all our hearts - Mobile phone bills! Listen to the programme, I think you will find it very useful!
