Breathe life back into your PC!

Just recently I helped a couple of friends bring their Windows PC's back to life. Non techies are often unaware that with the addition of extra 'memory' they can speed up their PC's considerably. This is often a much more cost effective solution than buying a new PC. Very simply:
  1. Check out how much memory you currently have: Microsoft How To article
  2. Check out the maximum memory you can have. I use an online PC memory supplier, Crucial, to do this.
  3. Order the extra memory. I use Crucial but you can shop around once you know what you need.
  4. Back up all your precious data
  5. Install the memory using your PC manufacturers on-line instructions e.g. an example from Dell
  6. Re-boot and see the difference.
Please note: Always back-up your important stuff, to an EXTERNAL hard-drive,  before you do any PC maintenance and if you are unsure get a professional in to help you.
